High Temperature Indoor May Cause Obesity

In cold winter, most people are more likely to stay at warm house. Recently, news on the website called Health Day in the United States showed that based on a research carried out by British scientists, too high temperature indoor in winter may cause obesity for human.

After surveying, the researchers believe that part of reasons on the obesity rate in both the U.S. and the UK increased in recent years may be the rising temperatures in room in recent decades. Fiona Johnson, a professor on epidemiology and public health from University of London, said that people used to stay indoors in winter because some equipment such as the heating and air conditioning can result in a warm environment, which limits the opportunity for body to experience various temperatures. In this case, in order to maintain body temperature, people would consume less energy and the balance of heat is disrupted, then resulting in fat accumulation, eventually leading to obesity.

The researchers said in addition to genetic factors, the relevance between obesity and the environment are mostly around diet and exercise. Although the two factors are key in leading to obesity, environmental factors must not be ignored. In winter, people should take some outdoor activities to adjust the heat balance in body and consume excess fat.
